Firstly, he displayed how to use a VPN to bypass the restriction in accessing certain sites. Secondly, he accessed the Stake website which is banned. Thirdly, he showed how to use cryptocurrency to place bets, which is also prohibited. Lastly, there were no safeguards in place to prevent underage people from watching the stream.
The result of this stream was to peak the views and the attempts to access the prohibited site. In fact, xQc asked for, and received, instructions through the correspondence with Trainwrecks, on how exactly to follow the same steps. Eventually, the latter announced during a live stream, that he would no longer broadcast games of chance on Twitch for personal reasons. He also mocked the criticism he had received for encouraging gambling and accused other streamers of receiving money to spend on Stake.
The broadcasts through Twitch will destroy it
The aforementioned criticism and the charge of receiving money form two of the reasons that users have begun asking that the broadcasts of the sort be banned. A third, and perhaps the most important one, is that all of the aforementioned violations will ultimately result in the destruction of Twitch altogether as a platform. Either through the legal injunctions for the violations, or through the overwhelming of all other activities that people use it for, with the live streams of gambling and betting.
So far, Twitch has not commented on the case. For the time being, the platform does not prohibit broadcasts with games of chance and even maintains a specific category for the content of this type, called “Slots”.
