Usually, we do not suggest outright bets unless it’s a big occasion. Indeed, after 8 years, the ICC Champions Trophy in cricket returns. The equivalent of the Confederations Cup held for football can only be described as one of the most important events of the sport. It begins today Feb 19 and it will last until March 09. 8 national teams are participating and there will be a total of 15 matches played at the fields of Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates.
Probably a change of the reigning champions
The format of the tournament is 2 groups of 4 teams each playing according to the rules of One Day Internationals. Pakistan won the title in 2017 and are still holding it as the tournament of 2021 did not take place due to covid-19 pandemic. Since cricket is a sport widely played in the countries of the British Commonwealth, all of the traditional powers are closely related to the United Kingdom.
The participants of this edition have resulted from the most recent World Cup of the sport. Their chances of clinging the title, are:
- India @2.46
- Australia @5.29
- England @7.42
- Pakistan @8.42
- South Africa @8.48
- New Zealand @8.01
- Afghanistan @18.01
- Bangladesh @107.01
The odds have been determined according to the results of the latest test matches and other international events where the teams participated. It is rather obvious that unless something really unexpected happens, there will be a change of the nation that will claim the next championship.
All eyes on India
While Australia may come as second best in the preferences of the bookmakers, it may not be such a pushover as expected. Strangely, just like in football, the creators of the sport England, are a distant 3rd with no real chances. The same stands true for the current holders Pakistan. The only side that can present a challenge comes from the land down under. Nevertheless, India does present the strongest team overall and we will go with the flow and suggest that you open your Game2Bet account and place an outright bet on them becoming the new ICC Champions.
